ELIGIBILITY

(1.) To be eligible, a student, or his or her parent or guardian, must meet qualifications for migrant or seasonal farm work. To meet this qualification, a student, or his or her parent or guardian, must have been employed for least 75 days during the past 2 years (24 months) in migrant or seasonal farm work or have participated, or been eligible to participate in a Migrant Education Program

Seasonal Farmworker: this is a person whose primary employment was in farmwork on a temporary or seasonal (not year-round) basis. The farmwork must be performed for wages and it can't be the individuals own farm. The individual must do up to 75 days minimum in the last 2 years before going to college. Each day counted does not need to be an 8 hr day. Most agriculture counts, dairy farms, and hay work. If you are not sure if you qualify please contact me, because sometimes kids end up qualifying by just asking.
Migrant Farmworker: this is (1) a farmworker whose agricultural employment requires travel, keeping the farmworker from returning to his/her permanent home within the same day; or (2) a person who has participated in a Migrant Education program in the past. This individual, or his or her parent/guardian, must have on file a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from a Migrant Education Outreach Program. If they are not current migrant farmers but were once they still count to get the scholarship.

BE AWARE: This is what CAN and CANNOT qualify you to participate in this program.

In order to qualify as a seasonal farmworker you, or your parent or guardian, must be working, or have worked within the past 24 months in agriculture. Riding/training horses, mucking stalls or cleaning the barn is not considered agricultural work. Food processing does not qualify as agriculture. If you work on your own farm you are considered a farmer, not a farmworker, and do not qualify. Agricultural activities that do qualify you for CAMP include any activity related to the production of crops, dairy products, poultry or livestock. It may be mowing hay, cultivating or harvesting trees, working at a fish farm, dairy farming, cattle farming, cropping, picking and grading fruits and vegetables, etc. If you are not sure your employment qualifies you for this program, please contact us and we can help you determine if you do qualify.
